Antique Ayurveda Organic Rosemary Dried Leaves
Product Description

Antique Ayurveda Organic Rosemary Dried Leaves are sourced from certified organically cultivated rosemary plants (Rosmarinus officinalis / Salvia rosmarinus) and carefully low-temperature dried to preserve the maximum essential oil content responsible for rosemary's characteristic intense, pine-like, herbal aroma.

Rosemary is a Mediterranean herb with needle-like, dark green leaves on woody stems. Its intensely aromatic flavour — pine-like, slightly camphoraceous, with earthy and woody notes — defines the flavour profile of many Mediterranean, European, and Middle Eastern cuisines. It is increasingly popular in Indian kitchens as fusion cooking and gourmet home cooking have grown.

Dried rosemary is suited to roasting preparations (potatoes, vegetables), breads (particularly focaccia and herb-infused flatbreads), infused olive oils, herb butters, herbal teas, and as an aromatic in slow-cooked preparations. Use in small quantities — dried rosemary is significantly more concentrated in flavour than fresh.

Our rosemary is NPOP certified organic — grown without synthetic pesticides — low-temperature dried to preserve essential oils, and packed without preservatives or artificial additives.

As Per Ayurveda

Rosemary (Rujmariy in Unani tradition, where its use is more extensively documented than in classical Ayurveda) is increasingly incorporated into contemporary Ayurvedic practice. Based on its qualities, it is classified as having Katu (pungent), Tikta (bitter) rasa with Ushna virya (heating potency) and Laghu, Tikshna qualities. Contemporary Ayurvedic practitioners use it as a Kapha-Vata pacifying herb, particularly for its stimulating, clarifying properties. It is also used in Shiro Abhyanga (head massage) oil preparations for its traditional association with scalp care.

FAQ
Q: How do I use dried rosemary in cooking?

A: Use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary per serving — it is significantly more concentrated than fresh. Add to roasted vegetables, potatoes before cooking. Infuse in warmed olive oil for 30 minutes for a flavourful rosemary oil. Add to bread dough or sprinkle on flatbreads before baking. Use in slow-cooked preparations where the long cooking time softens the tough dried leaves.

Q: Can I use dried rosemary to make herbal tea?

A: Yes. Add 1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary to a cup of hot water, steep for 5–7 minutes, and strain. The resulting tea has a strong, piney, herbal flavour — add honey if desired. Start with a small amount as the flavour is intense. Rosemary tea is traditionally consumed in Mediterranean cultures as a general herbal infusion.

Q: Can dried rosemary be used for hair care?

A: Yes — rosemary has a tradition of use in hair rinses and scalp preparations across Mediterranean cultures. Make a strong rosemary infusion (steep 2 tablespoons in 500ml of hot water, cool, and strain) and use as a final hair rinse after shampooing. Alternatively, infuse dried rosemary in warm coconut or castor oil for a traditional scalp massage oil.

Q: How should I store dried rosemary?

A: Store in an airtight container away from direct light, heat, and moisture. Dried rosemary retains its essential oils best in a dark glass jar. Properly stored, it keeps for 12–18 months. The best quality test is the aroma — rubbing the leaves between your fingers should release an immediate, strong pine-like fragrance.
